Policy for Brands and Designers

Effective Date: 1/1/2025
Last Updated: 1/1/2025
The brands (manufacturers of furniture) and designers (designers of furniture) that we have featured in Version 0 of OurThings were selected as a result of our deep admiration for the quality of the work that they produce. Our intention is to partner more deeply with these brands and designers as we launch Version 1 while also showcasing a wider range of brands and designers that we have cultivated during 2024.
While Version 0 only provides a link to the product available on either the brand’s website or an existing retailer, our goal is for Version 1 to allow our members to make purchases directly via our platform. In order to offer this feature, we will integrate directly with the inventory management and point of sale system of the many brands that are featured on the platform. Doing so will allow us to aggregate all things owned by a member and streamline the management of those things within a member’s home and collection. This will allow brands and designers to maintain an ongoing relationship with our members, see what members want to buy, see projects members are working on, and attain data across the industry. In the process, we will reduce the reliance of brands and designers on ad spending and marketing as well as the reliance on relationships with interior designers to place their items. This will likely increase loyalty and sales.
In exchange for increased loyalty and sales, we request that brands, designers, and retailers offer OurThings access to their trade program pricing as we will, in many ways, be offering a portion of the services that interior designers might have provided when sourcing products. This pricing should offer OurThings a 5% commission on things discovered and sold to our members via our platform. This commission can be shared by brands, interior designers, and retailers. The specific arrangement will depend on the current distribution model of a specific brand or designer (i.e. whether the brand offers direct to consumer, direct to trade, has an existing retailer network, or whether the interior designer is the user of OurThings).
In exchange for supporting the discovery and sales of the most inspiring furniture and home goods, we ask the brands and designers we feature to honor our service by ensuring we receive a commission for products discovered through our platform, even if a member purchases directly from the brand. We plan to achieve this by tracking member behavior (with their consent) as they navigate other services across the internet and by relying on the integrity of the brands and designers we feature. We believe that our service will ultimately help the industry become more efficient while enabling end buyers to discover and purchase a wider range of extraordinary furniture and home goods.
